Many (including myself) struggle over the topic of God's goodness. See my post on that here. My goal in this post is not to dissect whether or not we can trust God's goodness, it is simply to praise His goodness. To choose to put aside our doubts of God's goodness, and praise Him for it, even when we don't feel it or believe it. The fact is, whether or not we believe He is just, kind, and good (or are simply allowing ourselves to be swayed by circumstances or emotions) does not change His character. It only changes the opportunity we have to enjoy the blessings of His constant character. When we make the sometimes difficult decision to praise and thank God for His goodness and kindness to us, we affirm the truth regardless of how fickle our emotions may be, how devastating our circumstances might be, or how far our hearts are from God. The choice to praise comes first, feelings come after. Tonight, wherever you are, whatever is weighing heavily on your heart, make the choice to praise Him. He is good. He is kind. He is just. Will you agree with Him on the truth of who He is and find joy for your soul?
Though imperfectly, I am making that choice more and more.
Psalm 34:8 - "Taste and see that the Lord is good!" Let's find our strength and refuge in praising Him for His goodness, kindness, justice.
Bless you, friends.
